Meet the artist...
ARTIST, SCULPTOR & FOUNDER
Inspired by the textures, forms and wild beauty of Aotearoa.
On a mission to bring beauty, texture, interest and personality to outdoor spaces.
Rusty Tussock began over 10 years ago in a beautiful New Zealand garden...
Dianne, a passionate and talented gardener with an eye for colour, texture, seasons and layers, wanted striking features to add interest and garden screens that fitted the vibe, to hide the practical things every garden has. But she could only find pieces mass-produced offshore, not large enough, not original or creative and not 'her', Nothing belonged. She needed something thoughtfully designed for a New Zealand garden...
So her daughter Natalie — with a background in art and design and a deep love for Aotearoa’s native plants and birds — designed and made a some bold custom pieces just for her. They caught people’s attention and friends, whānau and visitors began asking for their own... what started as a couple of handmade designs soon grew into Rusty Tussock.
Today, we have a catalogue of over 80 carefully crafted designs... unique, outdoor sculptures, garden art and distinctive screens which can be found in gardens and public spaces across New Zealand and the world. Every piece proudly designed and made here in Aotearoa - created to add personality, intrigue, texture, height, form, dimension, value, privacy, beauty, wow and quiet drama to our outdoor spaces.
Pieces that feel uniquely ours. Connection to place.
Made to last. Made to be noticed.
Each made with love for your favourite humans and spaces,
x Natalie, Stu & Dianne
